Our Day With Carte Blanche
Derek Watts and the Carte Blanche team recently paid a visit to our offices. This is how it went.
On the 1st of March 2021, Carte Blanche anchorman Derek Watts and his camera team visited the Virtual Reality offices in Johannesburg to film a segment on virtual reality and the Metaverse.
During his visit, Derek had a discussion with Gerald Ferreira, founder of Virtual Reality South Africa, about the power and potential of virtual reality, as well as its rapid growth and evolution.
Derek approached us wit the goal of trying to understand how immersive the world of virtual reality and the metaverse truly is.
In order to demonstrate the potential of VR to Derek, we equipped him with a Virtual Reality headset and let him go through Richie's Plank Experience, one of the most powerful virtual experiences that are commercially available. The video below shows just how impactful Derek found the experience.

It covered several aspects of the Metaverse, such as NFTs, the development and creation of virtual land, and the role of the Metaverse in today's economy.
Along with Virtual Reality South Africa, the segment featured several important figures that are also contributing to the rapid growth of the virtual reality industry in South Africa, such as Mic Mann, founder of Africarare and Ubuntuland, and Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, vice-chancellor of the University Of Johannesburg.
